Zlín Zone

From May to September you can discover Zlín's architecture together with local guides on the Zlín Zone tours. You can explore Planned City, Factory in the Gardens or Bata's Housing.

The first tour that the city of Zlín in collaboration with the aArchitektura association came up with was the Planned City walk. It starts at náměstí Míru (Peace Square) in front of the Town Hall designed by František Lýdia Gahura. The tour passes through the historic centre, takes you to the factories and ends symbolically visiting the beautiful Tomas Bata Memorial.

The tours Bata's Housing and Factory in the Gardens were added later. The former will take you to the working-class district of Letná with its small brick houses scattered on the hillsides. You will see the typical Zlín semi-detached houses, quadruplex houses and single houses, which are probably the most favourite houses for Zlín citizens to this day.

The factory tour will take you through the incredibly well-preserved factory area, which is still, after a hundred years, vibrant with life. You will see the development of the entire factory complex, learn many interesting facts about how the buildings are arranged, what they were equipped with and why the perfect production system worked. You will also see the Bata Skyscraper with its elevator office, paternoster and spectacular views from the top 16th floor.

The Zlín Zone tours have quickly become a hit, attended not only by tourists but also by locals. They are held every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon with limited capacity so it is recommended to book your place in advance. You can buy tickets at the Tourist Information Centre at náměstí Míru (Peace Square) in Zlín. We highly recommend this great experience.
