Zlín Film Festival

Zlín Film Festival has a rich history that dates back to 1961, when it was held for the first time. Since then, it has evolved into one of the most important festivals focusing on film for children and youth. Its aim is to support high quality production for young audiences while promoting film culture as a means of education and entertainment. The festival is held annually in late May / early June.

The Zlín Film Festival presents more than 300 films from 50 countries, ranging from internationally acclaimed films to debuts of young filmmakers. Films you won't see anywhere else.

To appeal to the widest possible audience, the programme includes not only feature films, but also animations, documentaries and short films. The festival does not limit itself to traditional cinema screenings, but organises also discussions, workshops, concerts, and parties that give audiences the opportunity to meet filmmakers and better understand the filmmaking process.

We recommend

The Zlín Film Festival is located in the Zlín Film studios in Kudlov. You can visit the exhibition Cabinet of Film History, which is located in the 32nd building of the film studios. The exhibition maps the period from the establishment of the studios to the present day. You'll see many original artefacts, entire scenes from animated films by filmmakers of all generations, sets, props, photographs, artwork, working tools and personal items of the filmmakers.

Essential part of the Zlín Film Festival is the competition section, which awards the best films in various categories, such as the best film for children, the best animated film or the best student film. These awards give filmmakers significant prestige and can help them further develop their careers.

The Zlín Film Festival is not only about films, but also about atmosphere and sharing of passion for filmmaking.

Everyone, who loves film and wants to have an unforgettable film experience, will find their place at this festival. The Zlín Film Festival retains its unique identity and continues to bring new inspirations and stories to audiences of all generations.
